Take part in our SoCiAl Connect (Social prescribing and Community Activities for people with Chronic Pain) research project!
We are interviewing stakeholders to understand whether social prescribing might be useful for people living with chronic pain and how to improve access to it.
Chronic pain is long-term pain affecting muscles and joints. People living with chronic pain explain that pain affects their work, function and sleep.
Social prescribing involves a healthcare worker in primary care, referring a patient to a person called a link worker. The link worker provides a social prescription to voluntary and community activities such as gardening, art, dance, museum activities or exercise groups.
We would like to find out what makes it easy or difficult for people to go to social prescribing. We would like to develop a care package to support people to access social prescribing and/or community activities.
To help us understand more, we would like to speak to UK-based:
-
.People with lived experience of chronic pain
-
Social prescribing link workers who have experience of working with people with chronic pain.
-
Anyone who refers people to link workers (e.g. GPs, healthcare professionals)
-
Anyone delivering community, peer support or volunteering activities that could be referred into by social prescribers (e.g. people working in organisations offering arts, nature, gardening, physical activity, volunteering or running a peer-led group for people with pain)
What will happen if I take part?
Taking part will involve a 30-45-minute interview. We will offer a £10 online gift voucher for people with lived experience as a thank you for your contribution.
